Future trends. Automated jobs will dominate labor market?
As you probably remember, the story of the famous movie “Blade Runner”, where people live together with androids, takes places in 2019. So, we can say the future is now. The biggest opportunity for modern business is finding a solution for jobs that are being automated.
Many regions economies is still dominated by industries that could be heavily automated in the future: office, fast-food restaurants, administrative service and distribution centers. For many people is a huge problem to tackle. Machine perform repetitive tasks now performed by humans. For businesses, it promises to cut costs and boost productivity. As automation spreads through the economy, experts say its impacts will be uneven.
Robot Class Hero
For the last two centuries, there is always fear the machines out taking over. It might be true, but how we can defend against it or just prepare? As we know from the history, each industry revolution started a war or social conflicts. Workers went out into the street to protest. On the other hand, companies complaining that they can’t find enough skilled labor, when they replace these jobs with robots.
Artificial intelligence now is present in almost every field of our lives. Technology now turns over every several months. If someone was trained on a machine, after this time, the enterprise should retrain workers, because there is going to be a new machine. Someone has to repair and maintain the robotic arms and anything that has to do with automation. It involves mechanics, electricals and engineers. But traditional education system has not been able to create curriculum that fast. Innovation economy needs an entirely new solutions.
Be smarter than robots
Some key factors include geography and race, but perhaps the most important determinant, education. While simply actions robots can do, people seems to be useless. In coming years, boosting educational opportunities would determine whether human work thrivers or struggles. Now global economy is in the place where government has record low unemployment. Over half of jobs in nation’s sector could be automated in the future, but only quarter would hold those jobs. The research found that education is the key factor. Someone with a bachelor’s degree runs less than 50% risk of job automation.
Henry Etzkowitz and Loet Leydersdorff already in 1990 elaborate model of Triple Helix. They tried to proof importance of the relation between partnership of key institutions and regional development. Their research emphasizes necessity building clusters, where local government, university and industry work together on economic and social growth. Highly educated people have more opportunity to find a better job, if automatization dynamic will growth.
